How to get rid of unwanted hair?!?

Well, for today’s episode I would like to share some effective methods to get rid of those unwanted hair and achieve smoother skin than ever.

Before I proceed I would like to answer few questions that generally pops in to our mind when removing hair from our body. (If you want to skip this part, sure go ahead and read directly the different ways to remove hair, that are mentioned in the later part of my post)

Is it necessary to get rid of hair?

No. It depends on person to person. As long as you are ok with the hair on your body, no need to remove them as they are no threat to your health. The advantage of removing them is the confidence that you gain when you are all groomed up. So, it’s up to you if you want to remove or just want to go all natural.

Is it safe to remove your facial hair?

Yes. There are no side effects of removing hair from any part of your body really. But the people with sensitive skin may face some redness. If you follow all the right ways to remove facial hair, there is nothing to worry really.

Will my hair grow thick after removing hair?

No. Not at all. The growth depends on person to person. Also, initially when the hair start growing back they feel little poky but there is no impact on thickness of hair.

Any other question or want want a complete post on questions related to hair removal? Leave in the comment section below. I would be happy to answer all of them or will do a complete blog post for the same. 🙂

Here is the list of ways by which you can get rid of your unwanted hair:

  1. Threading
  2. Waxing
  3. Sugaring
  4. Depilatory creams
  5. Laser hair removal
  6. Plucking/Tweezing
  7. Shaving

Now let’s get in to some details of these methods and learn more about these methods.

THREADING:

This is a traditional hair removal method, common among Indian ladies, especially used for shaping their eye brows, removing hair on upper lip and lower lip, sometimes also to get rid of unwanted hair present on the forehead and chin area.  This method is safe for your skin and do not cause any harm except that your skin might appear little red for sometime.

Is it Painful? Yes it is. But the pain is still tolerable if it is used for removing hair on smaller areas as mentioned earlier. But, this method is not appropriate for removing hair on larger areas like your hands and legs.

How is it used? Professionals and beauty parlors provide this threading service and is affordable one. They use a string of thread and twist it in such a manner that it plucks out the hair from the root. Since, the hair is removed from the roots, it will not grow back quickly.

WAXING:

In this method of hair removal, a wax is used to remove the hair. There is special kind of wax that is used to remove hair from the roots. You can find the wax easily in the market or on the online websites.

Is it painful? Yes it is. But once your start waxing regularly the pain starts decreasing. I would say the pain is worth tolerating because the results are so good, you don’t have to worry about the hair for weeks!

How is it done? Waxing is done with the help of the strips, easily available in market and on online websites. (If you want me to show how to do waxing at home then please leave your requests in the comment section below). You apply the wax on the affected area and remove it with the help of a strip. You may also find this service in beauty parlors near you.

SUGARING

This is another method of hair removal. In this method we use a special gel made from sugar, lemon and hot water. It is directly applied on the affected area and pulled off to remove  the hair. The hair is removed from the roots which do not grow back for weeks!

Is it painful? Less painful than waxing and more effective than waxing. It can be used to remove hair from all over the body except the eyebrows ( because threading is more effective when it come to shaping of your eye brows)

HAIR REMOVAL CREAMS

There are many hair removal creams available in the market and on the online websites to remove your hair. These are not as effective as waxing and sugaring because they remove hair from the top layer of the skin and not the roots.

Is it painful? No, not at all. These creams are directly applied on the skin and removed with the help of the spatula to get rid of the hair.

But, people with sensitive skin should opt for the ones which are exclusively made for the sensitive skin type. And before you apply them it is always recommended to do a patch test to learn more about how the cream reacts on your skin.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

This one is carried out by experts. In this method a laser beam is used to burn the hair follicle. It is like a permanent hair removal solution. But this method is costly and time consuming as well. Complete treatment require months. But once done the results are amazing and long lasting.

PLUCKING/TWEEZING

This method can be used to remove hair from areas like eye brows, upper lip, lower lip or any other extra hair popping out. This method of hair removal is not practical for larger areas like legs or arms because you cannot remove so many hair by plucking out each of them, right? Also this can be painful.

You can find a good quality tweezers easily in the market or on a online website.

SHAVING

Most commonly used and easiest way to get rid of hair. But, there is a downside of this method, the hair grows back very quickly. Also, there is a high risk of cuts and in grown hair.

If you still want to go with shaving, then use a good quality razor, exclusively made for woman skin and a good shaving foam as well. (Want more tips on Shaving, then leave your requests in the comment section below)

Laura, there are many factors responsible for the hair to grow back after a laser treatment. Few like, your hair color (lighter hair color are more likely to grow back), hair follicle still present in the skin, that the hair may have escaped the laser beam due to different growth locations. Also, it greatly depends on the type of laser technology used for the treatment. Some require touch ups post the treatment. You must talk to the clinic you had your treatment for a more specific answer to the re-growth in your case. 🙂

P.s. I am not an expert in laser hair removal.
